ProTec T LLC began as most innovation companies do. We were a couple of friends discussing sports injuries and tossing ideas around on how to combat them. Those initial conversations lead to a revolutionary concept in therapeutic athletic equipment.
The idea behind this new concept is to protect athletes from overstressed muscles, tendons, joints, and connective tissues in active limbs during an incredibly stressful playing career. There are two features to this concept:
The first is to measure the loading on all parts of a player’s system during the exercise of their activity.
The second is to design and manufacture a unit that will allow the player to perform at the peak of his muscular strength, without, or at least limiting, that overstress which often occurs during the course of competition.
ProTec T LLC has devised an article of manufacture (which addresses these two features, and a patent for which is now pending), and is open to discussion of participation by interested parties in further development. During the discussion with a qualified interested party under the protection of the Non-Disclosure Agreement, certain demonstrations can be made if required.
The company is willing to make demonstrations and disclose confidential details of the protective article, with an appropriate signed NDA, to qualified interested parties.
Too many athletes today, after enjoying a short career, find themselves at retirement, subject to ongoing medical and surgical problems with age due to the extreme overstresses they place on themselves when young, in order to compete at professional levels.
This article will prove to be extremely popular with current athletes who may look forward to a long and healthy career, with the knowledge that they may improve the likelihood of enjoying an even longer and healthier retirement from their chosen sport.
Bernie Stannus an Engineer by trade has worked on both Domestic and International Projects around the world. He was an Air Quality Engineer for Pima County Department of Environmental Quality and a Site Engineering Supervisor on the construction of the Snake Pedestrian Bridge in Downton Tucson Arizona. With a diverse career in Engineering, he was inspired to collaborate with John Klippstein to develop protective sports gear to help the well-being of those engaged in athletic activity.
Born and raised in Vancouver Canada, he participated in high school and extra-curricular basketball and football programs, suffering only one small, sprained ankle. He worked his way through high school and college as a helicopter supported mining prospector in Northern BC, Alaska, and the Yukon Territory. This physically demanding activity, climbing mountain cliffs, crossing rivers, and battling incredibly thick bush, as well as facing wild animal encounters, alerted him to the dangers associated with physical injuries caused by excessive strain on the feet and ankles which could result in life threatening scenarios.
He is an Engineering Graduate from the BC Institute of Technology, in Vancouver, and also a graduate of the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta. He has a Certificate of Technology and a B.Sc. from these Institutions. He has also been a Registered Professional Engineer with the Province of British Columbia for over 40 years.
John, the son of famed Chicago Cubs pitcher Johnny Klippstein and a former pitcher himself, has been involved in football, baseball, basketball, and golf for his entire life. Having competed at both the amateur and professional level, John has seen and experienced firsthand, the wear and tear that athletics can put on a body. John also interviewed peers with lingering sports related injuries. John’s relationships with current collegiate and professional coaches, scouts, and trainers, has received vital feedback as they have added their input into the design of this product. John is a business owner that now resides in Tucson, Arizona. John enjoys playing and competing in golf tournaments on a regular basis.
